About Tonoflex
Tonoflex 100mg/2ml is a painkiller injectable used in the treatment as well as prevention of pain. The active ingredient in Tonoflex is Tramadol, a synthetic opioid analgesic.
How effective is Tonoflex 100mg/2ml injection?
Tonoflex 100mg/2ml injection is an opioid painkiller (analgesic) which is used to relieve and prevent moderate to severe pain in adults. Although how it works isn’t fully understood, it is believed to act on the areas of the brain associated with the transmission of pain signals.
What dose should I choose?
For adults and children over the age of 12 years, a dose of 50-100 mg is administered every 4-6 hours. The dose must not exceed 600 mg in any 24 hours.
More frequent dosing may be required after a surgery.
For the elderly over the age of 75 years, the dose should not exceed 300 mg in any 24 hours.
The use of Tonoflex is not recommended in children under the age of 12 years.
What are the side-effects and other warnings when using Tonoflex 100mg/2ml injection?
Tonoflex is an opioid painkiller so prolonged dose may cause addiction. The common side-effects include:
- Headache
- Drowsiness
- Fatigue
- Nausea and vomiting
- Constipation
- Dry mouth
Other uncommon side-effects include:
- Changes in the heart rhythm
- Stomach irritation
- Diarrhoea
- Rash, itching or hives
Tonoflex must be avoided in individuals allergic to tramadol or other opioid analgesics. Its use is contraindicated in individuals with epilepsy, meningitis, head injuries, or severe respiratory depression. Do not combine Tonoflex with other opioid analgesics, benzodiazepines or other CNS depressants, including alcohol.
